New Year Resolutions - Part 2 - Business

I blogged the other day about making personal new year resolutions. Now, I'm going to talk about business resolutions. Resolutions are like goals, but they are usually not as specific. I prefer to make general resolutions for the new year, and from there develop specific goals with measurable outcomes and time tables.

I compiled a list of popular resolutions that businesses make for the new year. I recommend jotting down a list of resolutions for your business. Keep them simple. We'll talk about turning those resolutions into specific goals next. Just think about some changes that you would like to make this year in your soap or candle business (or any other business for that matter) and get them on paper.

Set goals
Ask for referrals
Learn something new
Work smarter and save time
Cut costs
Delegate work
Develop procedures
Research new trends, technologies, methods, etc.
Promote business regularly
Plan weekly
Organize your shop
Organize your office
Network with others
Decrease hours while increasing profits
Attend a seminar, workshop or class
Develop new products
Gain new regular customers
Go green
Use social media regularly
Update promo materials, equipment, etc.
Develop contests or promotions
Seek out new craft fairs and festivals
Get retailers to sell your products

Well, you get the idea. Brainstorm some of your own resolutions and write them down. Next, we will turn them into actual goals.
What resolutions did you come up with?
