I did it!! At the Handcrafted Soapmaker's Guild 2010 Conference, I passed the Basic Soapmaker Certification. I then tested for the Advanced certification and sent in my soap sample. Today I officially passed and am now one of 20 or so Advanced Certified Soapmakers worldwide.
What does this mean? Well not much has changed. It simply means that I have gone through a process to prove my competency in soapmaking. It means something to some people and nothing to others. More than anything, it was a test for myself. I learned so much in the testing process that that alone is worth something to me. It also means I can show of this spiffy certification emblem and have a few seconds of bragging rights. :-)
Now it's on to the masters certification, which looks a bit intense but certainly doable. It will take months to get through the process, but I'm looking forward to learning more along the journey. I love pushing myself to the next level and proving to myself that I am capable of achieving small goals along the way.
