Grapefruit Salt Glow Recipe - Herbal Spa Body Treatments

Body Treatments

Not quite as popular as the massage or facial, body treatments are equally important to the skin. Many of these treatments include exfoliants in the forms of scrubs and salt glows or body masks, which sometimes require the body be wrapped.

Scrubs are quite easy to make and use for the home treatment and are referred to as scrubs, polishes and glows. Exfoliants can be slightly courser than used on the face, but steer away from ingredients that are too abrasive. For example, a fine grain sea salt makes a great salt glow but the coarser grain should be saved for bath salts.

Grapefruit Salt Glow

1 cup carrier oil (such as macadamia nut or hazelnut oil)
½ cup fine Himalayan pink salt
½ cup fine dead sea salt
30 drops Grapefruit essential oil
15 drops Lemon essential oil
8 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
¼ teaspoon vitamin E

Blend ingredients together and place in a jar or Malibu container. To use, scoop or squeeze a fair amount of scrub into your hands, enter the shower and massage over the body avoiding sensitive areas. Rinse with warm water.

Note that this scrub does not contain a preservative. Since it doesn’t contain water, it is not necessary. However, no water can enter the container. If you fear that water can possibly enter the jar, choose the Malibu container, which is less likely to allow such a contamination.
