Floral Sculpted Soaps and Candles - Part 2

Making floating floral candles is just liking making soap. You will follow the same basic steps with a couple of variations.  See the step by step tutorial of sculpting flowers here.


Floating Rose Candle

Dip and carve wax

Fragrance

Colorant

Primed 1 in wick (cut to 2 inches long)

Double boiler

Pouring pot

Spoon

Rubber 9x9 baking pan

Cutting board

Cookie cutters or knife

Ball/ Veining tool (cake decorating tool) optional

Small piece of foam optional

Hair dryer

Follow all of the soapmaking steps in the previous article, replacing soap with wax. The only differences are you’ll want to use a bigger cookie cutter and pour your wax a tiny bit thicker or your candle will come out tiny and Step 5 has an added step. Lay the wick across the wax triangle then roll the wax up. Press the wax together to form a teardrop shape. Then proceed to the next step.

Now you can create beautiful glycerin flowers and floating wax candles. Try using different floral cookie cutters and different colors and scents to create new flowers, such as water lilies and gardenias. Be creative and have some fun.
