Scenting Naturally - Making Natural Perfumes - Part 3 - Essential Oil Blends

Formulary Blends


Here are some essential oil blends to get you started on your way to making your own natural perfume. You can use these blends as is or use them as a starting point for creating your own unique fragrance.

Sea Spray (Ozone)

4 parts lavender
2 part rosemary
2 part bergamot
1 part spearmint

Jasmine (Floral)

5 parts jasmine absolute
2 parts rose absolute
1 part patchouli
1 part frankincense

Wood Rose (Floral/Woody)

3 parts rose absolute
2 parts cedarwood
2 parts amyris
2 parts myrrh
1 part patchouli

Grounded (Woody/Green)


4 parts patchouli
3 parts cypress
1 part vetiver

Spice for Men (Spicy/Green)

2 parts bergamot
1 part cedarwood
1 part juniper
1 part patchouli
1 part lime
1 part clove

Mandarin (Citrus)

4 parts orange
1 part patchouli
1 part ylang ylang

Simply add these blends to an alcohol or jojoba oil base to create a perfume. You can also blend essential oils for any of your soap and bath products the same way you do with perfume. Don’t forget to have fun!
