I am participating in the Soap Challenge on Great Cakes Soapworks blog. If you haven't heard about it, head on over and check it out. I have been following Amy's blog for years, and this little project has been the most fun. Each week she has a challenge for soapmakers and you can post your finished project when you are done.
Of course, I am behind on my posts. So even though everyone else has already posted their week 7, I am just getting around to posting week 1. But don't worry, I will be posting a couple per week to catch up with her other blogging buddies.
For this project, I am doubling up on a future challenge, so I cannot cut this soap yet to show you how it turned out. I separated the lightly traced soap into 3 bowls. I used pink ultramarine and yellow oxide to create a different color per bowl - yellow, pink and orange. I poured the pink and orange colored soap into the yellow and stirred it 2 clockwise swirls.
I am making a sun soap, so the mold I am using is a semi-circle. The rest went into rectangular molds which will be used to make the rays for the sun. When I finish the soap up, I'll post a picture. I've made this soap before, but last time I encountered some minor issues, so I am tweaking the technique a little.
You can see the other challenge participants' Pot Swirled Soaps by clicking here.
Tomorrow, I'll post the 2nd week challenge - Milk Soap.
