The majority of the minerals of the Dead Sea are found in its mud. The mud can be used in soaps and facial and body masks. It is used to tighten the skin and refine pours. It also helps with muscle and joint pain. It can be used in hair formulations as well.
Formulary
Dead Sea Acne Soap (2.5 lb)
By volume unless noted otherwise
12 oz Olive oil (by weight)
9 oz Palm Kernel oil (by weight)
9 oz Coconut Oil (by weight)
10 oz water
4.6 oz lye (by weight)
3 tbsp Dead Sea Mud (powdered)
.5 oz Tea Tree essential oil
.5 oz Clary Sage essential oil
.5 oz Lemon essential oil
Make soap following standard procedures and safety precautions. Add the essential oils and mud powder at trace. Pour soap into mold. Allow to set and cure for 4-6 weeks.
Dead Sea Mud Mask
1/2 cup Dead Sea mud
5 drops Geranium essential oil
5 drops Lavender essential oil
Blend ingredients well. Spread mud on face. Allow to dry about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Follow with facial cleansing routine. Can be stored in a jar. The wet mud has a shelf life of about 1-2 years. Essential oils will not affect the shelf life
